Once again, the display room at the Richfield Show and Sale was awesome. Most Educational award went to Louis Fifer and Best display went to Dennis Huey. Click on the “Read More” for all the pictures.
Richfield Bottle Show & Sale 2016
I arrived early around 6:20 AM and to my surprise the sales room was already a flurry of activity. Dealers carting in boxes for under their tables in anticipation of the 7:30 starting time. Ready, set, go signaled the start of another Richfield Show. A good crowd seemed in a buying mood with almost everyone carrying a bag. At noon, in what has become a tradition, the OBC set up a luncheon for the dealers with the leftovers from the Saturday evening hospitality room (Thanks to Lindsay Stoneman, Elizabeth Lacy, Phyllis Koch and Elaine DeMaison for hosting the luncheon). Congratulations to Matt and Louis for organizing a great show with an exceptionally nice selection of very quality bottles. Click on “Read More” to see all the pictures from the show.

The Glassworks is offering their “The Summer Extravaganza” with parts ending on August 29th, August 30th and August 31st. This auction has a wide variety of items and worth your time to explore. Good luck. Also, the OBC is scheduled to be at the Hartville Flea Market on August 20th.
Old Dr. J. Townsend Sarsaparilla
“Alan, here is a OLD DR. TOWNSEND SARSAPARILLA I picked up at Norm Hecklers several years ago. You were there also. It just so happened I was one on the very first to make the rounds. The first table I came to this jumped out at me I snatched it up. Several guys behind me ask to look at it while I quickly paid the guy. I didn’t have time to quibble and the price was cheap.” Best Regards, Gary Beatty. See all Gary’s pictures by clicking on “Read More”. Four of us including Roger Hardesty, Terry Crislip and Tim Kearns made the trip to the fall Keene Bottle Show.
Marble games program, a big hit!
Tim Ickes gave a very entertaining program for our June meeting on marble games. He displayed a wide variety of early marble games. The July meeting will feature our annual picnic meeting with KFC provided by the club. Each member is to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share. Todd & HGTV
One of our very own club members(Ohio Bottle Club) was filmed for an upcoming HGTV special on “The Revolutionary War On The Tuscarawas – Fort Laurens Encampment”. Todd Knisley joined OBC members at the Hartville Flea market on Saturday July 9th to participate in the club membership drive. He stayed until a little after Noon and then packed up to join the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment which is part of the Brigade of the American Revolution, in Bolivar. The 8th Pennsylvania is a group of American Revolutionary War reenactors who meet to give impressions of 18th century military life. Todd was invited to participate in a reenactment at Fort Laurens in Bolivar Ohio. Todd was honored as being the only non-regimental member invited to be in attendance at the two-day event. As seen in the photos, Todd took Revolution era bottles that spanned from the French & Indian War, the American Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812, to not only show what items of the reenactment period would have looked like, but to show the transition before and after the period.
OBC at Shupp’s Grove 2016
Unfortunately I missed Friday which was dealer setup and early admission, but there was still plenty to see and handle on Saturday morning. Dealers rent spaces with tables and many times there are 2 and 3 tables on each space. Many Ohio Bottle Club members made the trip and with were pleased with their purchases. Should be a great “Best of” with all the great bottles. It is like a quality bottle show in a forest. I did find a rare Meadville Rye Whiskey advertising tin sign, it didn’t go home with me because I already have it in an original frame. See all the OBC members and friends by clicking on “Read More”.
