Cleveland 2018 is History

Congratulations to Team Cleveland, (Matt & Elizabeth Lacy, Louis & Lindsey Fifer, Adam & Phyllis Koch, John Fifer, Alan DeMaison, Ferdinand Meyer), all the great OBC volunteers (Ken Arthur, Robert Kreiling, Linda Crislip, Bruce Drollinger, Joe & Marlene Franchino, David Keding), OBC Displayers (Ted Krist, Brian Gray, Tim Kearns, Roger Hardesy, Duane Rader, Berny Baldwin, Dennis & Nathan Huey) for an outstanding event. The Convention started with a Reception ant the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and concluded on Sunday at 1 PM with the Display Awards. Thanks to the FOHBC , all the dealers, and attendees.

FOHBC Electric Auction

The FOHBC Electric Auction is now online with bidding starting today. You will need to register to bid. This auction is part of the FOHBC Cleveland 2018 with live bidding occurring on Saturday August 4th at 9 am at the Convention Center, Global Center Ballroom A. Link to the Auction.

Wilbur Bowers passing

It is with great sadness that the OBC must announce the passing of Wilbur Bowers. Wilbur was a long time member and served as the auctioneer at Mansfield and at club meetings. Read his obituary.

Terry Koval to speak at National Bottle Convention

Terry Kovel will be guest speaker at the Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors (FOHBC) 2018 National Antique Bottle Convention & Expo in Cleveland the weekend of August 2 through 5. The annual convention is the largest (and most exciting!) antique bottle and glass event of the year. The convention will take place at Cleveland’s downtown Huntington Convention Center and the nearby Marriott Key Center Hotel.

Terry is speaking at the Friday evening banquet at the Marriott Key Center Hotel. She will talk about her work in antiques and collectibles and will share stories about how antiques hobbies and markets have changed. Autographed copies of the 50th anniversary Kovels’ Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide 2018 will be available.

Cleveland 2018

A group of nine spent Tuesday touring the Cleveland Convention, host hotel and Rock & Roll Museum. An exciting weekend has been planned for the bottle collectors. Plan to attend. There is still time to get tables, rooms at the $149 discounted rate (maybe), and get your early admission. I might have room for one more display, but I need to know by Friday.

The Chemistry of Purple Glass

Once again Rick Baldwin has answered my call for for more participation on the Website and/or Facebook page with a great article on The Chemistry of Purple Glass. Ricks article is very informative. We need OBC members and others to Post on the Ohio Bottle Club Facebook page. Cleveland 2018 is just weeks away.

Hartville

We are scheduled to do Hartville on Saturday July 7th (I know it was the 8th in the Swirl, my bad). please contact Alan or Louis to have us reserve you a space. The OBC will pay $10 of your space rental for this event. We also might do Saturday July 14th. Bring your bottles for expert appraising. See you Saturday.

American Bottle Auction #65

 

American Bottle Auctions has worked very hard putting this together and they hope you like some of the items we are offering.  We really do cover the different categories quite well from western whiskeys and flasks to masonic flasks and inkwells and of course everything in between. We will offer 223 items, all very interesting and all being sold over the next 10 days.  From Friday June 29th, to Sunday July 8thCheck out the website and see if you find something and while we’re at it have a great Fourth of July!
