Be aware that an email targeting FOHBC members with a very touching GoFundMe request is being circulated. It was not sent or authorized by the FOHBC. See “Read More” for a picture of the original email.

Mary Ballentine passing
It is with great sadness that the OBC must announce the passing of Mary Ballentine this morning. Mary was a great friend to the Ohio Bottle Club and the bottle hobby. Mary was a fixture at Mansfield setting up next to the Koch’s and Bartley’s. We will update this Post as more information becomes available.
Meeting January 31st
The meeting will proceed as scheduled. Please don’t come to the meeting if the bitter cold weather is a concern. The roads should be dry and snow free.
January Meeting
Don’t miss the January 31st meeting. Program is Cleveland 2018 revisited, refreshment break will feature cakes and new addition to the meeting is “What is it?”. Bring an item that you need help identifying or an item to stump the membership. the item doesn’t have to be a bottle or bottle related. Should be lost of fun. Don’t forget to download your Mansfield contract.
OBC Bottle Shows
Mark your calendars and complete your contracts for the May 11th OBC sponsored Mansfield Antique Bottle Show and Sale. Also September 29th as the OBC fall show returns to a much larger facility. John and Louis Fifer announced the change at the December meeting. Room to expand and a place for displays. More information to follow.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Wanted Ohio Bottles
Can you help! We have a page designed to search for collectors wanting a specific bottle. Visit our “Wanted Ohio Bottles” page to see what people are looking for. We are really “Looking for a New Philadelphia brewing bottle for my son for Christmas.”
Thanksgiving Wish
The Ohio Bottle Club would like to wish all collectors a very restful Thanksgiving. Take time to appreciate what you have and know that you are the protector of your collection for the next generation. Make plans to attend the next OBC meeting on November 29th where Terry Crislip will present a program on Roman bottles. See you soon!
Pittsburgh 2018
Members of the Ohio bottle Club attended a sold out Pittsburgh Bottle Show and Sale this last weekend. Saturday night, dealers could unload their bottles and enjoy a great hospitality. Fried chicken, sandwiches, peel & eat shrimp, goulash with a spicy sausage, and pies to die for greeted 60 dealers. Sunday was the show and a nice crowd attended. The Pittsburgh bottle club put together an impressive display of Pittsburgh bottles and stoneware in shades of yellow. See “Read More” for pictures of OBC members and the display.
Expanding the Website
Over the years, many great articles have been written for the Swirl. We need a small army of dedicated computer savvy members to scan the articles. Those articles need to be preserved and available to Ohio collectors on the website. I can be part of the army, but I am not going to be the army. I need help. With a club of almost 200, seems like there should be plenty of volunteers. See me at the meeting or email me. Contact information in the “Read More”.
On a second note, we need pictures of great Ohio Bottles for a Great Ohio Bottles page on our website. You can send me pictures and a brief history. See contact information below in the “Read More”. We can add the bottles to different pages by categories.
OBC’s Golden Anniversary
The Ohio Bottle Club turns 50 in 2019 and going strong for another 50. We should mark the occasion with some sort of celebration. Seems to me that Mansfield or the summer picnic or both would be proper venues for at least a celebratory cake with 50 candles. I envision our 200+ dinner guests on Friday evening sharing our celebration and Bill Koster cutting the cake. Could we put together an OBC display on the stage? Please share your comments at the November meeting or send me your comments by filling out the Contact Us by clicking on “Read More”.
October Meeting
September OBC Meeting
Thursday September 27 is “Share your recent treasurers” night. This is a great opportunity to educate the members on what you collect. Munchies are planned for the refreshment break.
